(Huffington Post post)

They knew and chose not only to ignore the facts, but to intentionally obfuscate them. Like the tobacco industry oilmen actively created propaganda to keep the money flowing in at any cost. Knowingly harming our planet and its people for profit is not a free speech issue, it is a criminal one.

The conspicuous consumption of fossil fuels regardless of the consequences may be the worst crime against humanity ever perpetrated. As addicted consumers we all share the blame, but as pushers the oil companies are despicable.

Fossil fuels should have been used with propriety for the public good, and not have been property to be exploited for profit.

But crimes are nothing new to the sickeningly bloated global oil industry. Corruption, tax dodges, coups, wars, environmental disasters, and illegal activity is why they continue to rake in billions as the world becomes increasingly polluted and the climate teeters on the brink of disaster.
